SIAH Field Assistant Completes Ornamental Horticulture Training in China
The SIAH field assistant China training reached a proud milestone as Ms. Rhonda Labiche, a field assistant with the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH), completed the third cohort of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme held in China, specialising in Ornamental Horticulture.
The training took place from 6 March to 9 May 2024 and was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the China-Africa TVET Alliance, in line with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties in 2022.
The programme aims to strengthen the teaching skills of Seychelles’ vocational education instructors, enrich their practical experience, and promote cultural and educational exchange between China and Seychelles, further deepening the friendship between the two nations.
The programme formed part of the wider TVET collaboration established under the 2022 memorandum of understanding. Over the two-month programme, participants combined classroom learning with hands-on practice in ornamental horticulture, gaining techniques they can bring back to their work in Seychelles.
Opportunities like this reflect the value the Institute places on developing its staff. By investing in specialised training abroad, SIAH strengthens both the practical experience of its team and the ongoing educational exchange between China and Seychelles.
