Full-Time Programmes on Offer
All full-time programmes are fully accredited by the Seychelles Qualifications Authority (SQA) and aligned to the National Qualifications Framework.
Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture
This programme aims to enhance learners’ skills and technical knowledge, providing them with essential learning experiences for employment, particularly in the agricultural sector. The programme addresses the increasing demand for highly qualified technicians and professionals capable of performing diverse tasks within the farming industry.
Entry Requirements
- S5 students: IGCSE minimum grade C in Maths, English, IGCSE Agriculture, Biology, and/or Chemistry.
- Other applicants: Completion of SIAH Advanced Certificates with minimum credit (70%); OR A level minimum grade E in English, Maths or science; OR 2 years experience in the field with minimum grade D in IGCSE Agriculture, Maths, English and any Science.
Advanced Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping
This programme ensures that the learner acquires knowledge, develops skills and attitudes to become innovative agricultural workers, and develops an awareness of their responsibilities towards protecting the environment. This approach aims to guarantee food security, address industry workforce demands, and create income generation opportunities.
Entry Requirements
- S5 students: IGCSE minimum grade D in Maths, English, IGCSE Agriculture, Biology or Chemistry; or National Exam minimum 70% in Maths, English and any science.
- Other applicants: Required exam results; OR SIAH Apprenticeship with minimum credit (70%); OR 2 years experience in agricultural or horticultural field.
Certificate in General Agriculture
The programme allows learners to develop a range of skills, technical knowledge and provide learning experiences necessary for employment primarily in the agricultural area. Seychelles depends heavily on importation of agricultural products and, with the flourishing tourism industry, the demand for vegetables, fruits and animal products is increasing. This programme trains learners to meet the growing requirements of the sector.
Entry Requirements
- S5 students: National Exam Results in Maths, English and any science subject, minimum 50%; OR General Pathway minimum 70%.
- Other applicants: National exam with minimum 2 years experience in agricultural or horticultural field; OR competent in English and Maths plus 2 years experience in the field.
Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping
This programme allows learners to develop a range of skills, technical knowledge and provide learning experiences necessary for employment primarily in the landscaping area. Designed to encourage more young Seychellois to take up a career in ornamental horticulture and landscaping, providing an accessible entry point for applicants from various educational backgrounds.
Entry Requirements
- S5 students: National Exam Results in Maths, English and any science subject, minimum 50%; OR General Pathway minimum 70%.
- Other applicants: National exam with minimum 2 years experience; OR competent in English and Maths plus 2 years experience in the field.
Short Courses on Offer
Industry-relevant short courses designed to upskill professionals and practitioners in the agricultural and horticultural sector.
Proficiency Certificate in Landscape Plants Establishment and Maintenance
Designed to improve the skills and technical knowledge of LWMA registered landscaping contractors, enabling them to bid for landscaping contracts successfully. Focuses on the growing need for qualified landscapers in the horticultural and landscaping industry.
Entry Requirements: Above 18 years, physically and mentally fit, good moral character, basic mathematical computation, and 3 years of working experience in the field.
Local Training and Workshops
Pesticides Handling and Application Training
The Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture offers the Pesticides Handling and Application Training to ensure compliance with the Pesticides Control Act of 1996, which specifies the proper management of pesticides for handlers, wholesalers and retailers.
The duration of training depends on the specific needs of applicants. All applicants should select the pesticides training agreement as per their specific needs and fill it in accordingly.
