First Cohort of IGCSE Students at SIAH Sit Their Examinations
The first SIAH IGCSE students began their journey in early 2023, when the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH) took a strategic step forward by introducing IGCSE Agriculture into the curriculum for a new batch of Advanced Certificate learners.
The introduction of the IGCSE gives learners a valuable dual qualification: the Advanced Certificate in General Agriculture together with the IGCSE in Agriculture.
For the SIAH IGCSE students, this dual qualification recognises both their practical training in general agriculture and an internationally benchmarked understanding of the subject. It positions the Institute’s learners to continue their studies or enter the workforce with a broader, well-rounded foundation in agriculture.
The examination period was an important test of readiness for the cohort. Of the eight learners who began the programme, five were registered to sit their examinations in October, and the presence of a Cambridge representative during the process underlined the standards the cohort was measured against.
Five of the eight SIAH learners who began the IGCSE programme were registered to sit their examinations in October. During the examination process, a representative from Cambridge visited the SIAH campus to observe the proceedings.
The visit was aimed at ensuring that SIAH complied with the regulations and procedures set by Cambridge IGCSE, marking a significant moment for the Institute.
